Acupuncture for Severe and Chronic Asthma Case, 10th Edition, 2005, <<Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion>>

A 57 years old woman suffering asthma for 30 years. Coughing and phlegm is hard to gone, can't lie down when asthma attacks, getting worse when weather is cold or emotional. HR is 106/min. Both legs have edema. Select acupuncture point: GV14, T3, T4 Jiaji point, UB21, UB23, LU7, LU9, PC6, LU8, LU11, ST36, KI6, SP4, CV17, CV22

Technique: 50mm needle to Jiaji point, twitching sedate technique, so that sensation can spread to the chest, CV22 for 3-5 mm straight direction then level downward sternum 50-75mm, twitching to achieve sensation through the chest. Back shu point use soft tonifying technique. Leave needles 30min everyday for 10 times as one therapeutic course. Rest for 3 days between two therapeutic course.

Result: Most symptoms are gone, patient can move around and do some home chores. For 10 years supervision without major attack.
